ThinFilms 2026 is chaired by Professor Sam Zhang Shanyong, who is the President of Thin Films Society. His research interests include preparation and characterization of hard and yet tough ceramic nanocomposite coatings, functional thin films, biological coatings, drug delivery for and coatings for clean energy. He has published 12 books, published over 290 papers, H index over 47. Prof Zhang serves as the Principal editor for Journal of Materials Research (JMR) and Associate Editor (Materials Science): Advanced Science Letters, Editorial Board Member: Surface and Coatings Technology, and the Series Editor of the Book Series on “Advances in Materials Science and Engineering" with CRC Press, etc.
